Netis calls the fibre interface a 2.5G SFP port in the product title and a 2500Mbps SFP+ interface in the hardware table. Module compatibility should therefore be confirmed before selecting a specific optical transceiver.
Port Configuration
PoE Access Ports
- 16 × RJ45 PoE ports
- Port speed: 10/100Mbps
- Carries both network data and electrical power
- Intended for IP cameras, access points, VoIP phones and other compatible powered devices
- Automatic speed negotiation
- Automatic MDI/MDIX detection
- Maximum standard cable distance: 100 metres
- Extended transmission distance: up to 250 metres in Extension Mode
Gigabit Uplink Ports
- 2 × 10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 interfaces
- Suitable for connection to an NVR, router, core switch or server
- Up to 100 metres over suitable Category 5e or better network cable
- Designed to aggregate traffic from the 16 PoE ports
Fibre Uplink Port
- 1 × 2.5Gbps optical uplink
- Suitable for longer-distance connections to a core network
- Helps prevent uplink congestion in multi-camera installations
- Requires a compatible optical module and fibre cable, normally purchased separately
PoE Specifications
| PoE specification | Details |
|---|---|
| PoE standards | IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at |
| Maximum output per port | Up to 30W |
| Maximum total PoE budget | 225W |
| Internal power supply rating | 250W |
| Powered-device detection | Automatic |
| Compatible equipment | IEEE 802.3af/at powered devices |
| Additional compatibility | Netis states support for certified non-standard powered devices |
| Protection | Overcurrent, overload and short-circuit protection |
Although every PoE port can provide up to 30W, the switch cannot deliver 30W on all 16 ports simultaneously because its total PoE budget is 225W.
For example:
- 16 devices averaging 10W require approximately 160W.
- 16 devices averaging 13W require approximately 208W.
- 16 devices drawing 15W require approximately 240W, exceeding the switch’s stated PoE budget.
The official product page specifies a 250W internal power supply and a maximum available PoE output of 225W.
Network Performance
- Switching capacity: 12.2Gbps
- MAC address table: 8K entries
- Forwarding method: Store-and-forward
- Full-duplex flow control: IEEE 802.3x
- Half-duplex flow control: Backpressure
- Automatic MAC address learning
- Automatic MAC address aging
- Plug-and-play operation
- No controller or software configuration required
- Supports full-power PoE output within the total 225W budget
Netis does not publish a packet-forwarding rate on the available official specification page, so a packets-per-second value should not be assumed.
Operating Modes
Normal Mode
Normal Mode provides standard switching and PoE operation.
- All ports communicate normally.
- PoE ports operate at their regular transmission distance.
- Suitable for standard office, CCTV and wireless network installations.
Port Isolation Mode
Port Isolation prevents direct communication between connected devices on the PoE access ports while still allowing them to communicate through the uplink ports.
Benefits include:
- Improved endpoint security
- Reduced risk of communication between cameras or terminal devices
- Better isolation of broadcast traffic
- Reduced impact of broadcast storms
- Useful for CCTV networks where cameras only need to communicate with the NVR or uplink device
Extension Mode
Extension Mode increases the supported Ethernet and PoE transmission distance to as much as 250 metres.
- Intended primarily for long-distance CCTV camera connections
- Transmission speed on extended ports is limited to 10Mbps
- Suitable cable quality is essential
- Netis recommends Category 6 cable for long-distance installations
- Actual distance depends on cable quality, connected equipment and installation conditions
